"Education šŸŽ“ must start with skills training for parents/caregivers and nursery schoolteachers. In my view this is where the work is much needed." Monja Boonzaier

We are incredibly proud šŸ‘ of this group of mothers and their babies who have completed our 7-month Early Childhood Education šŸ¤±šŸ¼ project in Kliptown, Soweto. Being able to witness how their confidence blossomed from hardly being able to make eye contact, speaking quietly šŸ¤« or not speaking šŸ¤” at all, being totally emotionally detached from themselves and their babies; to standing Infront of a group of strangers and sharing proudly how this work has changed them and their babies!

Teaching sensory awareness development, through movement, touch and play is taking root in community mothers and caregivers. Mothers learn to sense and become more aware of themselves and can therefore provide their babies with opportunities to discover their own bodies. In this way, adults can learn to communicate with their children and support their development, simultaneously being empowered by learning skills and expanding their horizons.

Hamba Bamba Funda's vision: to ultimately implement this method in the Early Childhood Sector of all communities in South Africa šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦.
