About Monja Boonzaier
Monja Boonzaier is the Founder and CEO of Hamba Bamba Funda.
Her passion lies in Early Childhood Education and her dream is to engage personally in setting up an accredited Early Childhood Development Education System in South Africa (Ages 0-2) for underprivileged communities.
Children's social and emotional development lays the basis for success in life. Primary and high school systems are under the authority of the government and are structured, while nursery schools and day care centres are neglected in the education cycle. This touches in particular the social structure in townships. As Nursery Schools and day care centres are not part of the overall governmental education policy in South Africa there is a need for change in the perception of these important institutions. Monja's interdisciplinary skills in dance and movement has grounded her love for teaching movement and helping others. Her extensive studies abroad has brought her to a place where she wants to take her work further and share it with those less fortunate, and in great need of the value it could bring to them… the young black South African children.
